Can I stop breastfeeding my baby? Will your diet be worse if I use infant formulas? Until what age is it advisable to maintain breastfeeding?

As collected by the AEP (Spanish Association of Pediatrics) in the document "Quantification of the Benefits of Breastfeeding: Evidence Review", breastfeeding is the most complete for the baby. But there are circumstances, which we cannot let go unnoticed, that prevent breastfeeding the baby:

- When the mother has no milk.

- When they exist mother's health problems who need medications incompatible with breastfeeding.

- When the mother should return to the job.

- When the newborn has a reflex of weak suction. A more frequent problem in premature babies.

- When breastfeeding is very painful for the mother.

- When a prolonged distancing in the time between mother and baby.

If I am in one of these cases, does that mean that my baby will be feeding poorly? The answer is a resounding no. Current infant formulas must meet by law a series of requirements that guarantee the complete nutritional contribution to the baby.
